Nationwide Scavenger HuntEvery day your kids read about things that are part of history, geography, science, etc. and it would be great if the kids could touch and see some things from other parts of the country.
Option 1: Create a list of things that would cause the kids to research and explore....i.e.seashells, cotton that is freshly picked and still in it's hull, a railroad spike, a chunk of coal....the options are endless and send it to friends and family all over the country and/or world! Ask everyone to review the list and if they can get ahold of any of the items to send it to you for school. (You may want to offer to help pay shipping!)
Option 2: Send out a letter asking each person to send something that represents their part of the country/world, a brief history of their area, postcards, etc. They can also give a brief history of themselves and their family.
Option 3: Find a way to incorporate both ideas into one big project.
What a way to help others catch the excitement of your homeschooling experience! This may be a way to break down some barriers with those who have questioned your homeschooling!
